ActiveLED® Parking Lot Fixtures Achieve Energy Savings of 90 Percent in Government Facility Parking Lot Lighting Application

Payback with Ringdale’s SSL Technology is 3.5 Years

Austin, Texas, June 7, 2011
– Ringdale, Inc., a U.S.-based manufacturer of commercial solid-state lighting (SSL) fixtures, has achieved both better illumination and energy savings of almost 90 percent in a government facility parking lot lighting application in Austin, Texas.  Ringdale’s 52W ActiveLED® Parking Lot Fixtures replaced 400W and 1,000W metal halide (MH) lights in a surface parking lot covering more than five acres.

The lighting project was completed in 2010.  All of the parking lot’s 97 MH lights were replaced with ActiveLED SL Series Street and Parking Lot Lights.  Compared to the parking lot’s previous yearly energy consumption rate of 265,857 kWh, the ActiveLED luminaires saved 229,241 kWh in the first year.

The ActiveLED solution provides a payback of 3.5 years.  The annual saving equates to $17,600 versus the MH lights, based on the facility’s current electricity rate.

The success of the ActiveLED installation led to more outdoor lighting retrofit projects at the Austin facility.  ActiveLED Flood Lights, Recessed Can Lights, Walkway Bollards and Wall Packs replaced existing high wattage lighting to illuminate the facility’s buildings and landscaping.
“This ActiveLED lighting application is one of hundreds that demonstrates ActiveLED’s high performance and energy savings,” said Klaus Bollmann, CEO, Ringdale.  LightSpace® Management Products by Ringdale provide additional energy savings with intelligent controllers.   All ActiveLED Lights come with an industry-leading 10-year warranty on the LED device and fixture and 5-year warranty on the power source.
